A valuable journey in medical laboratory science, developing practical skills, teamwork, and real-world experience in a professional healthcare setting.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to complete my clinical rotation at South Bend Medical Foundation, now Labcorp, alongside my fellow Medical Laboratory Science students from Andrews University. This experience was a crucial step in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. Working in a professional lab environment, I gained hands-on experience in diagnostics, laboratory procedures, and teamwork. Each day presented new challenges, from analyzing patient samples to ensuring accuracy in results, all of which reinforced the importance of precision in healthcare. Being part of a dedicated team—including Simonique, Kareem, Maria, and Richard—allowed us to support each other while learning from experienced professionals. This rotation deepened my appreciation for laboratory science and strengthened my skills for future roles in the field. It was a defining experience that helped shape my career and commitment to advancing healthcare through laboratory excellence.
